ABOUT THE HOSPITAL ASSOCIATIONThe Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties (HASD&IC) was established in 1956 (then the Hospital Council) and is a non-profit organization representing over 35 hospitals and integrated health systems in the two-county area. Member hospitals represent over 8,000 licensed beds; range from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers; and include not-for-profits (49%), district (13%), investor-owned (19%), and city/county/state/federal (19%) facilities. HASD&IC's mission is to support its members by advancing the organization, management and effective delivery of affordable, medically necessary, quality health care services for the communities of San Diego and Imperial counties. HASD&IC provides strong leadership, representation and advocacy with local governmental entities, business coalitions, the media, community organizations, and the public. HASD&IC's board of directors represents all member sectors and provides policy direction to ensure the interests of member hospitals and health systems are preserved and promoted. Organized under the auspices of HASD&IC is the nationally recognized Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP), a collaboration of San Diego health care systems, hospitals, community clinics, insurers, physicians, universities, community benefit organizations and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, and all of whom are dedicated to a common vision of improved health for the San Diego communities.
