ABOUT THE HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION
The Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties (HASD&IC)
was established in 1956 (then the Hospital Council) and is a non-profit organization representing 35 hospitals and integrated health systems in the two-county area. Members range from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers; include not-for-profits (44%), district (12%), investor-owned (22%), university (6%), and city/county/state/federal (16%) facilities; and represent over 8,200 licensed beds. HASD&IC's board of directors represents all member sectors and provides policy direction to ensure the interests of member hospitals and health systems are preserved and promoted.
Vision: An optimally healthy society.
Mission: To advance the organization, management and effective delivery of affordable, medically necessary, quality health care services for the San Diego and Imperial County communities. HASD&IC provides leadership, representation and advocacy on behalf of our members and in collaboration with local governmental entities, safety-net providers, the media, business coalitions, academia, community organizations and the public.
• To be a leader in shaping regional healthcare policies and systems to improve the health of our communities.
• To advocate for access to timely, appropriate and quality healthcare for all residents.
• To collaborate with other providers and stakeholders on initiatives to improve access to care and the efficiency and effectiveness of the local health care delivery system.
• To inform, educate and participate with our communities in improving health outcomes.
